Everything points to a modest but welcome income tax package, with the point where you start paying 40% tax rising to €46,500 and the main tax credits going up by €125 each. Reports suggest that could leave a working couple on €100,000 around €1,500 a year better off, and a single person on €50,000 about €750.
Housing and family costs look set to feature too. First-time buyers should be able to get up to €35,000 through Help to Buy, renters are in line for a bigger rent tax credit, and parents can expect childcare costs to come down from next September.
There's help on the cost of living side as well, with an expected €10 a week increase for pensioners and people on welfare, a higher Fuel Allowance and relief on the carbon tax on home heating oil.
For savers, the new tax-free investment account could turn out to be one of the most interesting changes of the day.
If you run a business, we'll be watching for anything that eases the cost of employing staff, particularly with the minimum wage due to rise again, and for any improvements to Entrepreneur Relief.
None of this is confirmed until the Minister stands up at 1pm, and we'll update our thoughts as soon as the detail is out. In the meantime, if you're wondering how it might affect you or your business, just get in touch.
At UHY Farrelly Dawe White Limited, we're here to help you make sense of it all and to make sure you're getting the benefit of every relief and credit you're entitled to.
